Gosh – it has been a dilly long while, hasn’t it?

 A quick update – remember that Bram Fischer Competition I was telling you all about? Well, turns out that Keval and I actually came third in the provisional round, and that third and second-place were really close. Second place pulled out of the competition due to the hectic load of work we have to do (which, in retrospect, was a JOLLY good idea), and so guess who was asked to take their place? Yes – us.

So we took part in the final competition, and had to represent the defendants this time instead of the applicants, which was a far harder job. Anyway, I didn’t perform nearly as well as I did in the provisional round, and the judges munched me up completely. They were VICIOUS!!! *munch* *munch* *gobble*

I came stone last in the competition, and Keval came third, but because second place dropped out, he’s going to the All Africa in Dakar, Senegal! Kev kicked ass!!!

Other than that, I have been sooooooo busy. So much has actually happened, including arguments between two best friends, arguments between me and best friends, work-related issues (receiving a piggy bank for work well-done.. lol), varsity-related issues – the works, really. No need to update you on all of it. I shall just start off from today.

Today I had my first exam, which was the Law of Evidence. I’m not going to say that it went OK, because then I’ll jinx it. All I’ll say was that I was able to pepper my exam paper with cases (this is a very good thing to do), and I think I managed to put down all the principles applicable to the facts of the various scenarios.

And then in celebration of me having a night where I could actually vegetate and do diddly-squat, I watched my recently-purchased copy of Dharma and Greg. I am in love with Thomas Gibson, aka Greg. He is sooooo beautiful and his smile is soooo lovely, and I feel really dumb saying this (and all mushy and idealistic and DO NOT judge me about it), but I want a boyfriend EXACTLY like him. He is the perfect fantasy. I just want to snatch him off the screen and place next on my bed and keep him there forever. He will be added to the Hot Men of my Blog category in the next post.

And another thing I have found myself really enjoying lately is re-reading Harry Potter in preparation for Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows coming out on the 21st of July 2007. It’s been really helpful re-reading it all as I pick up on things I totally missed the first time round, largely because I FLY through the book to see what happens in the end. lol. I have found this particularly destressing especially when accompanied by a cup of tea. It clears my mind of all that Hollington v Hewthorn and Makin crap!!

Another way of destressing is to make videos of yourself being weird… I leave you on this note.

1. Soi, in Melville. The best restaurant in Joburg IMO. The food is a fusion of Thai and Vietnamese, and combined with an excellent ambience and funky decor, it has received numerous 20 out of 20’s from the Joburgboy
2. Antz, in Melville. Quite a rustic little Italian eatery on Melville’s 7th Avenue. The venue is intimate, creating a relaxed and warm vibe. The food is magnificent too (Pasta with black mushrooms in a creamy sauce with garlic and chilli is a face), and combine this with a good glass of red wine and GREAT company, results in Antz also getting numerous 20 out of 20’s from the Joburgboy.
3. The Loft, in Melville. Also on Melville’s 7th Avenue. Decor is particularly fantastic, with a magnficent chandelier dominating the room. Food is a bit pricey, but is delicious when it arrives.
4. Service Station, in Melville. Not on 7th Avenue, but in ‘New Melville’ a few blocks away. An old converted petrol service station, this eatery provides a great place to come especially for breakfasts. The food is fresh, and the crowd is gawwrgeous.
5. Moyo’s, Zoo Lake, Parkview. The best of all the Moyo’s. And one of Joburg’s best restaurants. Perhaps a little touristy, but the experience is amazing. Food is magnificent, and the decor gives Afro chic a whole new meaning.

My last post from work

I write this post at work, whilst Tyler/Sven/Fashionurseatbelt looks on. He shouldn’t be behind the counter, for he does not work here (and he constitutes too much ‘cream’ behind the counter), but I don’t really care for today is my last shift.

This makes me feel… quite sad, actually. Because I have loved work generally speaking, and I love hanging out with my bitches here.

(oh my God.. now Laura has just joined us behind the counter, which has in turn made this place just BUBBLE over with cream… if cream bubbles, of course)

But I digress…

I am sad because I am going to miss the interesting customers we get. Like Hot Lebanese Man (who apparently was in Woolies today), or Hot Berlin Architect Man, or Mrs Nathanson, or Pink Shirt Man.

So in celebration of this shift we are defying all the rules: I have added an appletiser to the store’s internal inventory; I have placed Business books in the pet section, and Psychology books in the gay section; And we are eating pink candy floss. When was the last time you had candy floss, hmmmm?

Anyway, I wish you adieu, work. It has been a kewl three years, and even though you have virtually dominated, shaped and influenced my life for three years, I will miss you muchly.

It will feel weird having my Sunday’s free. My eyes will grow fuzzy from the lack of industrial lighting in my life, and the corrosponding new-found sunshine will infiltrate my soul and make me a better person. A person who instead of watching books every Sunday afternoon, will go for picnics and will go play tennis and prance amongst fields of daffodils and stuff…
